MSGT James A. Merry Sr., 64, (U.S. Air Force, ret.) of Slidell, La., died Monday, August 8 at Slidell Memorial Hospital, Slidell, La., from cancer.
He was the son of the late Fred and Bertha Reed Merry.
A native of Wiscasset and a resident of Slidell, La., for the past 15 years, Sgt. Merry was a retired United States Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam, also retired manager for Air Products Chemical Manufacturer.
Sgt. Merry was a member of Community Christian Church in Slidell.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret L. "Margie" Merry; one brother; and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Rankin Merry; two sons, James A. Merry Jr., of Louisiana and Terry G. Beauman of Colorado; three daughters, Sandra (Merry) Lemoine, Pam B. (Merry) Morgan, and Robin (Merry) Gittinger, all of Louisiana; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one twin sister, Jane Ann (Merry). Labordias of Massachusetts.
A memorial service was held at the Community Christian Church in Slidell, La. on Thursday, August 11 with the Rev. Johnny Beyer officiating. Internment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
