PORTSMOUTH - Iola Hofler "Pip" Alphin , 94, of the 200 block of Rockbridge Road, died April 12, 2000, in Ocala, Fla.
Mrs. Alphin was born in Gates County, N.C. The daughter of the late Willie and Rosaline Welch Hofler, she was a homemaker and a member of Clarksdale Methodist Church in Clarksdale, Mo. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph T. Alphin and a daughter, Esther Barber.
Surviving are a daughter, Rose Rhodes and her husband, Paul, of Ocala; two sons, Robert Willie Alphin and his wife, Jeannie, of Louisville, Ky., and Guy Hofler Alphin Sr. and his wife, Susan, of Portsmouth; a sister, Margaret Church of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Edna Hofler of Belton, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Zion United Methodist Church, Hobbsville, N.C., by the Rev. William Clements. Burial will follow in the Hofler Family Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and on Monday at the home of Willie Earl and Stella Hofler, 876 Carter's Road, Gatesville.
