He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Signal Knitting Mills after 30 years. Mr. Hicks served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later served in the National Guard Armory.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and Ida Belle Walker Hicks; son, Randy Gerald Hicks; brothers, Earl, Eldon, and Billy Hicks; and sisters, Villa Green and Louise Akins.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Pearl Smith Hicks, Dunlap, TN; son, Joey (Karen) Hicks and grandchildren, Olivia, Laura, Amanda and Charlie, all of Dunlap, TN; son, Jeff (Theresa) Hicks; and grandchildren, Megan, Courtney and Jennifer, all of Morehead, KY; brother, Lloyd (Beverly) Hicks, Dunlap, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. CST Thursday, December 24, 2009 in the Ewton Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Michael Grant officiating.
Burial in Camp Cemetery with full Military Honors.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. CST today.
