Catherine Louise Adams, 52, departed this life on Saturday, July 10, 1999 at her home in Lakin, after a difficult but courageous battle with cancer.
On July 11, 1946, Cathy was born to Theron and Frances (Chamberlain) Fluke in Eads, Colorado. She grew up and attended schools in Eads.
In 1963, she married Larry McNeeley and the moved to Kit Carson, Colorado. in 1970, the family moved back to Eads before moving to Lakin in 1971.
On September 4, 1981, she married Garry Adams.
She truly enjoyed life and was always there with a smile or a word of encouragement. Some of her favorite things to do were bowling, fishing, playing cards, collecting angels and bells, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a longtime member of the Lakin Women's Bowling Association and the First Presbyterian Church in Lakin.
Survivors include her husband, Garry, of the home; son, Jeff McNeeley and family of Tribune; daughter Dana Lane and family of Lakin; three stepsons, Kyle Adams and family of Norfolk, Virginia, Kent Adams and family of Midland, Texas, and Kray Adams and family of Lakin; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; sister, Jackie Kirmer and husband of Ashland, Ks.; sister-in-law, Joan Fluke of Lamar, Colo.; brother-in-law, Larry Adams and wife of Wichita, Ks.; mother-in-law, Irene Adams of Lakin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard "Dickie" Fluke; and her father-in-law, Raymond "Spike" Adams.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Juanita Wiseman officiating. Burial was in Lakin Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
