ONAGA – Argyl E. Figge, 67, of Onaga, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at his home in rural Onaga after a courageous battle with leukemia.
He was born May 2, 1942 at Westmoreland, the son of Walter and Meta Abitz Figge. He graduated from Onaga High School in 1960.
Argyl was a farmer and an avid Hereford cattle breeder. He had worked at the Onaga Sale Barn and was currently working for the Banner Creek Animal Hospital at the Holton Livestock Exchange.
He was actively involved in the Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Onaga Young Farmers, and a member of the Onaga F.F.A. Alumni. Argyl's pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, especially watching them show their livestock at fair time.
He married Judy K. Stowell on September 9, 1967 at Marysville. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Other survivors include a son, Darrin E. Figge, wife Gayla, and their children, Ty & Laney, Onaga; a daughter, Carmen K. D'Aloia, husband Kevin, and their children Breanna & Tharrin, Onaga; two brothers, Lavern Figge, Onaga, and Melvern Figge, Kansas City, KS; three sisters, Lavona Biesenthal, Wheaton, Eldana Howard, Westmoreland,KS, and Margieanna Bosse, Wamego, KS,; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23rd at St Luke Lutheran Church in Wheaton, KS. Burial will follow in St. Lukes Luthern Cemetery. Argyl will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Tessendorf-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga where family and friends will meet from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. He will also lie in state an hour before service time at the church.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 300, Onaga, KS 66521.
