Louis C. Ackerman, 78, died October 17, 2000, in Klamath Falls of cancer.

Private family burial will be Saturday, Oct. 28. Full military honors will be provided by the Lakeview Layne Clifton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4070. Desert Rose Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.

Mr. Ackerman was born to Ralph and Edna Ackerman of Lakeview Aug. 13, 1922. He graudated from lakeview High School and worked at the ZX Ranch in Paisley as a bookkeeper until he joined the Navy in 1942.

After World War II he moved to Crescent City. He married Delores Telander there on Oct. 9, 1948. In Crescent City he served as president of the 20-30 Club was special deputy and served on the Del Norte County Sheriff's posse. He came back to Lakeview in 1958 and opened the Lakeview Bolwing Lanes. He began working for the Bureau of Land Management in 1961, retiring in 1985. Mr. Ackerman enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and yard sales.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Les and Dale of Lakeview, daughter Gayle Johnston of Lakeview, sister and brother-in-law Marie and Joe Peters of Lakeview; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister, Lois.
