Lenna Adams Nellius, 85, of Christiana, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Brandywine Hospital.
She was the wife of the late E. Roy Nellius Jr., with whom she had shared 48 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1995.
Born in Nashville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Julia Vance Bailey Adams. Mrs. Nellius graduated from Collingdale High School in 1941. She was a 55-year member of Hopewell Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for the 3- and 4-year-old class. Among the many organizations that she was involved in were the Downingtown Optimist Club Women's Group; East Brandywine Historical Society, of which she was a charter member; and Downingtown Lioness Club.
She was a leader for the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; a league officer for the Downingtown Babe Ruth League; and a volunteer with the Downingtown School District. She wrote for 'The Archive' newspaper in Downingtown and drew advertising 'specs' for the Rubin-Donnelly Directory. After raising her family, she worked as an activities director for Harrison House in Christiana for 24 years. Among her hobbies were bird watching and gardening. She was also an avid Phillies fan.
Mrs. Nellius is survived by her sons, Roger Nellius of Christiana, and Robin Nellius and wife, Marta, of Coatesville; and by her daughter, Cherylen Nellius-Kazarian and husband, Ken, of Coatesville. Also surviving are grandchildren, J.R. Nellius, Todd Nellius, Jamie D. Nellius, Roger Nellius, Jr., Richard S. Nellius, Kristan L. Nellius, Mariah L. Nellius, Jennifer R. Kazarian, and Caitlin J. Kazarian; and by great-grandchildren, Tiffany Jantelle, Robert Jantelle, Felicia Nellius, Austin Nellius, Tyler Nellius, and Mason Nellius. She was predeceased by her sons, Rich E. Nellius in 1968 and Roy Nellius III in 2006; and 11 siblings.
A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 852 Hopewell Road, Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m.
Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
