Irene B. Adams, 92, died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, KS.
She was born March 8, 1911 at Cherokee County, KS, the daughter of Arch and Ethel Florance (Clark) Henderson.
Mrs. Adams grew up in Columbus, KS and attended Morrow School there. When she was 14-years-old, she moved with her family to Wellington, KS and then to Garden City, KS when she was 12-years-old.
On Dec. 19, 1931, she married Raymond "Spike" Adams in Garden City, KS. He died on June 12, 1992.
The Adams moved to a farm near Lakin in Kearny County. After living in several locations, they moved from the family farm to the city of Lakin in March of 1969.
A homemaker, she enjoyed crafts, playing cards, and her church.
She was amember of the First Presbyterian Church in Lakin, Eagles Lodge, Birthday Club, and Homemakers EHU.
Survivors include two sons, Garry and the late Cathy Adams of Lakin, and Larry and wife Mariann Adams of Wichita; two sisters, Eula Metz and Lucille Hallmark, both of Garden City, KS; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Chester Bruce Adams, two brothers, Emit Henderson and Howard Henderson, and daughter-in-law, Cathy Adams.
Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. FrankLyn Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to the church in care of the funeral home.
