William R. "Bill" Abernathy, 85, of Williamsport, Indiana, died at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital.
He was born in Clinton, Indiana on June 9, 1924 to Claude and Katherine James Abernathy. He married Marcella Arlene VanSant in Clinton, Indiana on Dec. 8, 1946. She preceded him in death May 7, 2003.
Surviving are two children, Monty Abernathy (wife, Patty) of Attica, Indiana and Billie Mitton (husband, Dave) of Williamsport, Indiana; one sister, Katherine Ward of West Palm Beach, Fl.; one brother-in-law, Don Dunn of West Palm Beach, Fl.; four granddaughters, Kelly Abernathy-Schneider (husband, John) of Fishers, Indiana, Lindsay Abernathy-Larson (husband, Joey) of Attica, Indiana, Jennifer Foster-Hicks (husband, Michael) of West Lebanon, Indiana and Paula Foster (companion, Lance Rasmussen) and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tom Foster; three brothers and three sisters.
