Dallas Earl Abston, 73,

SPARTA - Funeral services for Dallas Earl Abston, 73, of Sparta, father of Putnam County Sheriff Jerry Abston, will be held Monday, Sept. 19 at 11a.m. at the Sand Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Carson Whittaker and Rev. Lee Roy Forgey officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Abston died Saturday at his home after an extended illnes.

A native of Putnam County, he was the son of the late Sewell and Belle Buckner Abston.

He was a retired employee of Crossville Rubber Products.

His family includes his wife, Delia Smith Abston; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Carolyn) Gentry of Sparta; three sons, Jerry Abston of Cookeville, Jimmy Abston of Dayton, Ohio, and Ronnie Abston of Chattanooga. Two sisters Daisy Farley of Dayton, Ohio and Stella Farley of Nashville. two brothers Willie Abston of Duncan, Arizona, and Woodrow Abston of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends after noon Sunday at Horner Funeral Home in Monterey. Horner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
