COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Delia Belle Abston, 92, of Sparta formerly of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Sand Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, and from noon until time of services on Sunday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Abston died on Friday, June 4, 2004, in Life Care Center of Sparta, Sparta, White Co,TN.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1911, in Putnam County to the late Rufus and Mary Burnett Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and attended Copeland's Chapel Church.

Her family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Donald Gentry of Sparta; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Judy Abston of Higginsport, Ohio; Ronnie and Gail Abston of Chattanooga; and Jerry and Sarah Abston of Cookeville; seven grandchildren, Chris, Jerry Dale, Scott and Wayne Abston, Jeff and Eddie Gentry and Barry Hensley; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Abston; a sister, Dora Smith; and five brothers, Jim, John, Walter, Dalton and Willie Smith.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Bros. Freddie Copeland and Danny Lane will officiate at the services.
