GERALD GLOVER ADAMS
FT. GAINES, GEORGIA. . .Gerald Glover Adams, a resident of Ft. Gaines, Georgia, died late Sunday afternoon, March 7, 2010, at his home. He was 85.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P. M. (E.S.T.) Wednesday, March 10, 2010, in the New Park Cemetery in Ft. Gaines, with Reverend Randy Stokes officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clay County Library, P.O. Box 275, Ft. Gaines, GA. 39851.
Mr. Adams was a native of Midland City, son of the late Lewie Henry Adams and Myrtle E. Glover Adams. He was reared in Columbia, Alabama where he was a graduate of the Houston County High School. After graduation from high school, Mr. Adams enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served his country during World War II. After the war, he enrolled in Auburn University where he received a degree in Pharmacy. Mr. Adams formerly co-owned and operated Adams Pharmacy in Ft. Gaines. He was a member of the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church and served as Boy Scout Leader in Ft. Gaines for many years. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Cheshire Adams, a son, Lewie Daniel (Danny) Adams and a brother, Glen Wade Adams.
Surviving relatives include a son, David Adams and wife, Etha Flournoy Adams, Ft. Gaines; two brothers, L. H. Adams and wife, Joy Adams, Columbia, AL; Lenton Adams and wife, Linda Adams, Tallahassee, FL; four grandchildren, Jake Adams, Tyler Adams, Clay Adams and wife, Melissa Adams and Clint Adams; four great-grandchildren, Tevin Adams, Jayden Adams, Abigail Adams and Gavin Adams.
