Born in Hagerstown, New Jersey, which no longer exists. When she was 12, she moved with her parents to Illinois where she lived for 16 years in Owensville, Sterling and Lanark. She married Andrew Bertrand Acker on August 8, 1872, in Morrison, Whiteside County, Illinois. They moved to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin for two years and then to Iowa where they lived in Council Bluffs and Harlan. In 1889 they moved to Lindsey, Nebraska, and later to Beemer. They moved to Greeley County in 1893.
