A distressing accident occurred at Shannon, Lee county, on Wednesday night last, from the explosion of a kerosene oil lamp, resulting in the death of Mrs. Winslow Garman(sp) and a little girl name Willie Meek. Mrs. Long, aunt of the little girl, was also badly injured - it us feared fatally. Mr. Richard T. Long was also badly burned in the arm and hand. The little girl was pouring oil from the can into a lamp already lighted, when the explosion took place.
