LAST RITES FOR CREED COOK
Mr. Creed Cook, 85 year old resident of West Richlands died at his home about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 23.
Although a native of Belfast Mills, Russell County, Mr. Cook moved to the Garden Creek section of Buchanan County soon after his marriage to Miss Margaret L. Griffith in December 1875. They were among the first pioneer settlers in this section and born to them were nine children. Mrs. Cook died in Buchanan County in 1910.
On March 2, 1914, Mr. Cook was married to Mrs. Josephine Dye. They continued to live at Garden Creek until 1923 when they moved to Richlands.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Addison of Sparta, Ohio, and Mrs. Dallas Absher of Blacksburg, Va. Two sons, B. Jay Cook and Harrison T. Cook, both of Richlands. Thirty-eight grand children and thirty-nine great grandchildren.
At an early age he professed faith in Christ and became a member of the Baptist Church. He was a well liked and respected citizen and will be missed by a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral service for Mr. Cook will be held Friday afternoon
at 2 o'clock at Layman's Chapel.
