Casper-Services for Casper resident Dean Palmer Aanestad, 79, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church by Pastor Nathan Doerr. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the United Veterans Council of Natrona County.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory.

He died Nov. 28, 2001, at his home.

He was born Nov. 17, 1922 in Minnehaha County, S.D., the son of Carl Gerhard and Christine Louise (Larsen) Aanestad. He graduated from Sherman, S.D., High School.

In 1944, he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

On Aug. 1, 1944, he married Avis Elaine Quissell in Moody County, S.D.

He worked on the family farm until moving to Wyoming in 1955. He retired in 2001, after 29 years of service to Central Wyoming Fairgrounds. Throughout his years of employment there, he was afforded the opportunity to show his dedication to his work and his love for all people.

A member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church since 1955, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, he was the founder of Trooper Promotions. His interests included hunting, traveling, following his family to their special events, attending Imperial gospel quartet concerts, working crossword puzzles and watching sports.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years; five children of Riverton, Casper, Las Vegas, and Highlands, Texas; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
