"Tillie" as she was known, grew up hunting with her father and was an excellaent shot.
She married John Lewis Compton February 14, 1904 in Houston, TX. Living in the country she was quick to pick up a rifle and shoot any animal after her chickens.
After the death of her husband and the onset of the Great Depression, she supported herself and her youngest daughter by doing mending for a nearby cleaners in Houston, TX. In spite of hard times, she would always share with others in need.
She died in her home at 1111 Peden from a stroke on August 20, 1952. She was predeceased by her husband and daughter Mary Perl Compton. She was survived by a daughter, a son, four grandchildren, one sister and two brothers. The funeral was held at Settegast-Kopf Home.
