Jennie N. Elliott, age 91, of Sturgis, Mich., died unexpectedly on Nov. 6, 2006, at her home.

She was born Sept. 25, 1915, in Vicksburg, a daughter of Benjamin H. and Ida (Davis) Nichols. Jennie had been a resident of Sturgis for the past 5 years, moving here from Walloon Lake, Mich.

In 1936 she married Lawrence Elliott in Battle Creek. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1989.

After several years of employment, she retired from United Technology Company in Boyne City. Prior to that she had been employed as a receptionist for a doctor's office and had been employed for J.C. Penney's in Petoskey and Battle Creek.

Jennie was a member of the Airport Community Club and the First Baptist Church where she was involved with the Circle of Friends Group. She enjoyed knitting and in her younger years, fishing and snowmobiling.

Surviving are: a sister, Doris Littlejohn of Hamburg, Pa,; a brother, Wallace (Doris) Nichols of Sturgis; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Elliott of Petoskey; two grandchildren, Mark Elliott of Petoskey and Justine Elliott of San Antonio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, David Lee Elliott.

According to her wishes, there will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A graveside service and burial will take place at a later date at the Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey. Arrangements are being handled by the Hackman-Foglesong Funeral Home in Sturgis.

Memorial donations may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Sturgis. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
