Ronald C. "Ronnie" Kroger Sr., 70, of 11300 West S.R. 56, Lexington, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at his home.

He was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Jefferson County, the son of Dorothy Laverne Thurman Abbate. He was employed at the King's Daughters' Hospital in facilities maintenance for 16 years, and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was formerly employed at the Barber Grocery Co., and owned and operated an auto garage in Florida for several years.

He was a member of the Schmidlapp Masonic Lodge No. 408, F. & A.M., where he had received his 25-year pin. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Doris J. Roberts Kroger; one daughter, Terry Eldridge of Hanover; two sons, Ronald C. Kroger Jr. of Hanover and Thomas E. Kroger of Lakeland, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Denise L. Boldery of Hanover; two stepsons, Brian Shepherd and Jason Perry, both of Hanover; one half sister, Jennifer Morgan of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his grandmother who raised him, Connie Thurman; one aunt; and two uncles.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, with burial in Liberty Cemetery in Lexington.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Honor Guard of the American Legion, Jefferson Post 9.

Schmidlapp Lodge No. 408 will conduct Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of King's Daughters' Hospital; or Liberty Cemetery Association. Cards are available at the funeral home.
