He was married July 26, 1981, in Nevada, to Sharon Thaxton and she survives of the home.
John was born in Ft. Scott, KS, but spent most of his formative years in Nevada. He attended Kansas City College and Bible School in 1970. John made his living as an insurance agent but was also a minister his entire adult life. He was currently the pastor of the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Nevada.
He was a member of the Missouri National Guard being honorably discharged in 1970. He loved auctions and visiting with his sale's friends. He loved his family and that love was returned in full.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, survivors include: four sons - Samuel Pruitt - Mountain Home, AR, Jonathan Pruitt - De Kalb, IL, Benjamin Pruitt - West Plains, and Joel Pruitt - of the home; four daughters - Rebekah Pruitt, Saral Pruitt, Elizabeth Pruitt and Tabitha Pruitt - all of the home; six grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Pruitt and Daryl Pruitt - both of Nevada; three sisters - Jo Sisseck - Nevada, Betty Hudson - Springfield, and Debra Sisseck - Hugoton, KS.
Services began at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Rev. George Ferguson officiating. Interment followed at Moore Cemetery in Nevada.
