"J.R. Abernethy Burial in Lakeside

John R. Abernethy, for a long time a resident of Lakeside and Three Oaks, died Sunday at the home of his son in Indianapolis. He was buried on Wednesday afternoon at Lakeside cemetery. Dr. Leo V. Barker of the Congregational Church reading the prayer service.

Mr. Abernethy was born in Ireland in 1863 and came to this country shortly afterward. For many years he was head florist of the Warren Featherbone's greenhouse in Three Oaks.

He is survived by two sons, Richard, who lives in Indianapolis, and Lester, who is stationed with the army air force at Langley Field, Virginia." The Galien River Gazette, page 12, June 26, 1941
