CHARLES ABRELL DIES SUDDENLY
RITES WEDNESDAY FOR LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER, 51

Charles Lewis Abrell, 51, widely known Greensburg photographer, passed away at 6 a.m. Sunday at the Memorial hospital, where he had been taken for treatment a week ago. His death was unexpected and came as a great shock to relatives and friends.

Born near Spencer, Indiana on November 19, 1895, Mr Abrell was the son onf James and Harriett Reed Abrell. At the age of 12 he moved with the family to Iowa.

In 1924 he returned to Indiana, locating in Greensburg, where he had since resided. On January 9, 1930 he was married to Kathryn Metz. To this union three children were born, Ivan, Garth and Rilla K, all residing at home.

For 13 years Mrs Abrell followed his trade as a barber in shops of Greensburg. In 1937 he opened the Abrell Studio, specializing in portrait work and photographic supplies.

Mr Abrell was a member of the Greensburg Presbyterian church and was affiliated with Olive Aerie No 927, Fraternal Order of Eagles. He had just been notified of his appointment to the Daguerre Club, exclusive international photographic society.

Surviving with the widow and three children are two sisters, Mrs Bertha Lorenz, of Harlan, Iowa and Mrs Mary Fulk, of Worthington, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Grover Abrell, passed away a month ago and a sister and three other brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral rites will be held at the Howe funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev John F Williams will officiate. Burial will be made in the Rossburg cemetery near New Point. The body is at the funeral home, where friends may call.
