A native of Chatham County, she was a homemaker and had been a Peninsula resident 38 years.
She was a retired nursing supervisor from Riverside Regional Medical Center. She was also a member of Parkview United Methodist Church, Newport News. She was a 1942 graduate of the nursing school at the Medical College of Virginia.
Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Alice Collier of Newport News; son, Robert L. Young of Newport News, Va.; sister, Mrs. Sally Mae Fowler of Bynum; brother, Rufus Abernathy of Graham; one grandchild.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bynum United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at Griffin Funeral Home 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.
