Barbara Faye Ketchum Abernathy, 70, of Bremen, GA., formerly of Dyersburg, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at her residence.

She was born on January 29, 1940 in Dyersburg to Thelma Davis Ketchum and the late Leslie Ketchum. She was a retired Elementary School Teacher in Carroll County, GA. and a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, King Smith Abernathy, Jr. of Bremen, GA; a daughter, Leslie Renee Payne of Bremen, GA; a son, Kyle Lynn Abernathy and wife, Maggie, of Leesburg, VA; her mother, Thelma Davis Ketchum of Bremen, GA; two sisters, Martha Hopper of Carrollton, GA. and Judy Moser of Dyersburg; and six grandchildren, Isabel Abernathy, Gabriel Abernathy, Samuel Abernathy, Raphael Abernathy, Nathaniel Abernathy and Anabel Abernathy.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cindy Moore.

The family requests that memorials may be directed to Sweetwater Baptist Church Building Fund, 2308 Sweetwater Church Road, Douglasville, GA 30134.
