Lucille Adams, age 92, longtime Brule resident, died January 4, 2009 at Indian Hills Manor.

Evelyn Lucille Bricker was born April 19, 1916 in Magnolia, IA, the daughter of Ray E. and Myrtle A. Carpenter Bricker. The family moved to Paxton, NE., followed by a transfer to Lemoyne, NE in 1922.

Lucille, as she was known to family and friends graduated from Ogallala High School in 1934 as there was no high school in Lemoyne.

On May 29, 1934, Melvin H. Adams, Sr. and Lucille were united in marriage in the Bricker family home in Lemoyne. To this union were born Melvin H.

Adams, Jr., John B. Adams, and Pamela Sue Adams.

Melvin worked as a rural mail carrier in Lemoyne until 1935 when the couple moved to Omaha where Melvin was employed by Fairmont Foods. In 1940 they returned to Brule where Melvin worked at the Bank of Brule until he was called to active duty with the US Army in 1941. During the war years Lucille followed Melvin to various duty stations until they returned to Brule in 1946.

Lucille was an active homemaker and deeply involved in community activities.

Some of her civic involvement includes past president of the Brule Lioness Club, Past Honored Queen of Job's Daughters Bethel #21, Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 142 including serving as a Grand Representative for the Grand Chapter of the Nebraska Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW # 3755, American Legion Auxiliary # 135, P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter HI, and Big Mac Shrine Club and Auxiliary. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ, Congregational and the Brule Women's Fellowship.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Melvin in 2000, her daughter Pamela S. Adams in 1977; brothers Ray Bricker, Jr., Babe Bricker and Milo E. Bricker; sisters June A. Bricker, Virginia F. McGreer, and Olive M. Spoeneman.

Survivors include two sons: Mel Adams and his wife Huberta of Ogallala; and John Adams and his wife Linda of Greeley, CO. Two brothers: James E.

Bricker and his wife Evelyn of Scottsbluff; and Norvin C. Bricker and his wife Pat of Cleburne, TX. Two sisters-in-law Mary O. Rohrs of Tucson, AZ and Geraldine Bricker of Lexington. Step brother-in-law Austin Bruch of Tacoma, WA. Also seven grandchildren Todd Adams and wife Kandy, Melanie Washa and husband Dave, Chad Adams and wife Barbara, all of Ogallala; Laurie and husband Kirk Hovendick of Lincoln, Kerrie Adams of Denver, CO; Chris Adams and wife Angie of Longmont, CO, and Abbie Adams of Baltimore, MD. and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 9, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home.

A Private Family Prayer Service will be Saturday, January 10, at 10:30 a.m. in the United Church of Christ, Congregational of Brule.

Funeral Service will be Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Ogallala First Congregational, United Church of Christ. Revs. Lauran Heidenreich and Phil Ewert will officiate. Rites by Order of Eastern Star #142 .

Interment in the Ogallala Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Brule Congregational Church and to the Brule Community Improvement Projects.
