OBITUARY
Nathaniel Hempsted died in this city July 3, about noon. The funeral services were held at the Christian church Sunday at 11 a.m., conducted by W.T. Adams. Mr. Hempsted was 74 years old at the time of his death. He was born in the state of New York. He was married to Miss Almira Brownell in 1854. Three daughters, all living in this county, and one son, who died quite young, have blessed this union. He and his family came to McPherson county about thirty years ago. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a man of pure moral character and everyone spoke well of him. He has been sick for about a year, and for the past six months has been almost a constant suffer both day and night, longing for the end to come. The sympathies of the community are with the bereaved family.
