Mr. Randy Jerome Absher, age 49, of 156 Fletcher Creek Lane, Purlear, died Saturday morning, August 21, 2010, at Watauga Medical Center.

Mr. Absher was born March 5, 1961 in Wilkes County, a son of Peggy Edmisten Blackburn and the late James Franklin Absher. He was a former assistant manager at Ruby Tuesday's Restaurant in Wilkesboro.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Absher is survived by his wife, Beth Blackburn Absher of the home; one step-daughter, Emilee Jordan Hartley of Purlear; one step-son, Seth Avery Hartley of Purlear; three sisters, Tena Newman and husband Derrick of Elkin, Lena Lewis and husband Allen of Fleetwood, and Mary Presnell and husband Tim of Banner Elk, and four nephews, Dalton Lewis, Dylan Lewis, Logan Newman, and Evan Presnell.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Lawson Blackburn.

Funeral services for Mr. Randy Jerome Absher will be conducted Monday afternoon, August 23, 2010, at 2:00 o'clock, at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Eric Proffit and Reverend Kevin Huffman. Burial will follow in the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock, at the church, prior to the service.
