DAVENPORT - Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Charles L. "Chuck" Bielser, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, with a vigil service offered at 7 p.m. All are invited to attend a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Bielser died on Good Friday, April 9, 2004, at Banner Baywood Medical Center, Mesa, AZ. Charles Leslie Bielser was born in Kingston, IA, on June 29, 1921, the son of Charles A. and Clara (Bandy) Bielser. He married Donna Hogan on April 10, 1948, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. In earlier years he was employed at The Innes Company and Highland Potato Chip Company. He retired in 1988 as an Accounting Supervisor for Sivyer Steel Company, Bettendorf. His memberships included Sacred Heart Cathedral, Knights of Columbus Loras Council No. 532, Moose Lodge, Senior Golden Squares and The Wheel & Steppers square dance clubs. Chuck also enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling, camping, cooking, fishing, reading and woodworking. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral or Assumption High School. Survivors include his wife, Donna; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathe and Tim Burke, Englewood, CO; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Carolyn Bielser, Dillon, MT, and David and Lisa Bielser, Norwalk, IA; grandchildren, Christine Burke and Stephen Burke; and a sister, Ruby Bielser, West Burlington, IA. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Edna Richmond and Reva Ackles. May they rest in peace.
