She was born in Bedford County on July 26, 1911 a daughter of the late Samuel Millner and Ollie Millner. She was a retired employee of Rubatex.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert James Abbott, a son Earl Hubert Abbott, two brothers, Luther and Jesse Millner, a sister, Virginia M. Arthur.
Mrs. Abbott is survived by three sons, James E. Abbott, Bedford; Jack D. Abbott, Cifax; Ellis S. Abbott, Bedford; five daugthers, Christine A. Key, Bedford; Polly A. Telschow, St. Louis, MO; Linda A. Key, Bedford; Gloria A. Stanley and Phyllis A. Hollon both of Lynchburg; one brother, Frank Millner, Lynchburg; a sister Sallie M. Roberts, Thaxton; nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 1997 at Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow and Rev. Lawrence J. Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in the Virginia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
