Mrs. Lena Abbott Scott, of 549 Westview Avenue, died Saturday morning at her residence.

She was born in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Wharton Berkley Abbott and Lelia Frances Cocke Abbott. She was a member of the Nazareth United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Hiram A. Scott, Sr.; three sons, Morris Winston Scott and Hiram A. Scott, Jr., both of Lynchburg, and James C. Scott, Bedford; a daughter, Frances Virginia Morgan, Norfolk; a brother Guy Abbott, Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Overstreet, Forest and Mrs. W. W. Forehand, Norfolk; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Carder Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William A. Winfree and Dr. J. Walter Mann officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider either the Bedford Lifesaving Crew or their favorite charity.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Carder Funeral Home, Bedford.
