State Woman Killed In Head-On Crash
Sister Injured, Said Critical
BROOKHAVEN - Feb. 6 - A 79-year-old woman was killed and her sister critically injured in a head-on collision that occured three miles south of McCall Creek in Franklin county Monday.
Mrs. Jerome Wilson of Auburn was pronounced dead on arrival at Kings Daughters hospital in Brookhaven where she was taken.
Her sister, Mrs. Ida Gill of McCall Creek, 55, is in a critical condition at Kings Daughters hospital according to members of her family.
Mrs. Gill was driver of a 1951 Chevrolet in which her sister was a passenger. Officers identified Douglas Lofton and Claude McCall, both 22, of McCall Creek, as occupants of the other car. McCall was driver, officers Said.
Highway Patrolman John Campbell, Deputy Sheriff Campbell of Meadville investigated the accident.
According to Patrolman Campbell, "The impact evidently occurred on Mrs. Gill's side of the road."
Lotfon and McCall were both taken to a Natchez hospital where officers said Lofton was described as being in serious condition. McCall was reported to have received only minor cuts and bruises.
Patrolman Campbell said no charges had been filed pending further investigation.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday from Ramah Baptist church in Franklin county. Interment will be in Ramah cemetery.
The body will remain at Hartman's Funeral home until time for services.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. A. M. Newman, Jackson; Mrs. Julius Woodall, Bogue Chitto; Mrs. Ethel Woodall, St. Louis, Mo.; five sons, Burt Wilson, Jackson Rev. D. C. Wilson, Athens,- Ga, J. B. Wilson, Tylertown, and Mac Wilson and R. A. Wilson, both of Port Arthur, Tex.; sister, Mrs. Ida Gill, McCall Creek; and a number of brothers and sisters who were not identified.
