Mary Louise Powell, 86, of 410 E. Second St., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at her residence.


She was born July 19, 1918, in Henry County, Ky., the daughter of Clarence and Sally Kincaid Abbott. She was a former employee of the Belknap Co. in Louisville, the Blue ribbon Restaurant in Indianapolis and had worked at the former Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Bedford, Ky. She was a member of the Sligo Baptist church. She was a former homemaker, enjoyed gardening and walking.


Surviving are two daughters, Sheree Lynn Smith and Gayle Sue Powell, both of Madison; one sister, Beatrice Craig Etherington of Lexington, Ky.; one brother, Clarence Alexis Abbott of Indianapolis; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James wilbur Powell, in May 2004; one sister, Helen Powell; and one half brother, Norman Abbott.


Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wood-Oakley Funeral Home in Milton, Ky.


Friends may call from 2:30 to 9 p.m. and after 10 a.m. until time of the service, Saturday at the funeral home.
