John Tockey
The people of Boelus and vicinity will sadly miss in social and business circles, the presence of a very distinguished citizen, Mr. John Tockey, who has recently taken his departure from this life.
John Tockey was born in Mount Morris, Illinois, December 9, 1847. In 1869, when a young man of 22, he moved with his parents to Logan Grove, Iowa, at which place he was united in marriage to Miss Rebecca Stephens, Aug. 20, 1870. to this union the following children were born: Mrs. H. W. Neiman, Curtis, Neb., Mrs. L. Johnson, Rockville, Mrs. J. M. Aaldrup, Fremont, Mr. J. A. Tockey Arcadia, Mr. G. M. Tockey, Grand Island. His first wife died Oct. 30, 1883, leaving three sons and three daughters.
In 1884 Mr. Tockey moved on a farm in Sherman county, Nebr., where he resided until 1900, when he moved to Boelus at which place he resided the last ten years of his life, being engaged in farming and stock buying and shipping.
On March 15, 1894 he was again married to Mrs. Susan Lay, to this union was born one child, Ora L.
Mr. Tockey died June 1, 1910, leaving a wife, and aged step mother, four sons, three daughters, two brothers, four sisters, twenty-six grand-children and a host of friends to mourn his departure.
