Mrs. Eddie Mae Rushing, age 97, died on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Browns Health Care and Rehabilitation under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born January 3, 1913, in Evans County, GA, to the Late Fentress John C. Strickland and Delia Frances Harvey Strickland. Mrs. Rushing was preceded in death by her husband, James H. "Jim" Rushing, her sons, "Pete" Rushing and "Freddie" Rushing of Register, GA. She was a member of the Register Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rushing was a business woman and homemaker through the years. After her husband's death, she continued operating a farm and country store in Bulloch County while she raised her children. She was a graduate of Perry Business School. She was a member of the National Association of Business and Professional Women. Later, she became a bookkeeper and then owned and operated a ladies clothing store, Eddie Mae's Fashions, in Claxton, GA. She was a church organist for many years. She was an avid bridge player with the Register Bridge Club and a wonder homemaker, enjoying quilting, knitting, sewing, and baking. She always said she didn't mind living alone later in life because she could always find something to do and she did. While she enjoyed so many hobbies, spending time with her family was her favorite past-time. You could always count on her to add a little humor to any gathering with her quick wit.
