Peter J. Anderson, 92, of Winnett, died Sunday morning, May 24, in the Roundup Memorial Hospital, of a heart attack.
He was born Oct. 31, 1877, in Lime Springs, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Peter Anderson. In Nov. 1900, he married Rose Schultz in Lime Springs. They moved to Montana in 1911, homesteading near Grass Range, and moved into Winnett in 1914.
Anderson was the first mayor of Winnett, and also served as County Sheriff and County Treasurer. He was employed by the Montana Lumber and Hardware Company both in Winnett and Roundup until his retirement in 1953.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Clinton Hassett of Winnett; one granddaughter, Mrs. Melvin (Lenora) Ackers; a sister, Mrs. Geneva Garrison of Lime Springs; two brothers, Charles Anderson of Rochester, Minn., and Clarence Anderson in the State of Washington.
Funeral services in the Winnett Methodist Church. Interment in Winnett cemetery.
