Mr. James Pope Acree, leading warehouseman, capitalist, Alderman and public-spirited citizen of Danville, passed away at the General Hospital yesterday after an illness of several months. He went to Patrick Springs twice this summer in hopes of recuperating his failing health. The direct cause if his death was Brights' disease. His father was for many years a prominent merchant and farmer of that county.
Mr. Acrees' education was received at the old Aberdeen Academy. Over 35 years ago, he came to Danville, where he became a clerk in the grocery store of his brother, the late Mr. E. F. Acree, who died here about four years ago.
