He was born on Oct. 7, 1939, in Luray and was a son of the late William Daniel and Ruth Ann Dickson Abbott.
Mr. Abbott graduated from Shenandoah Valley Academy in 1957 and Washington Adventist formerly Columbia Union College, in 1962. He was a member of the Luray Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by four daughters, Pamela Moore of Villa Park, Calif., Tracy Beliveau of Silver Spring, Md., Stacey Messex of Temple, Ga. and Kimberly Laska of Williamsburg; two brothers, Harold L. 'Mickey' Abbott of Rileyville and William Daniel Abbott Jr. of Charlottesville; a sister Barbara Wilson of Rileyville; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p. m. on Saturday at Luray Seventh Day Adventist Church by Elder Jeff Taylor.
Burial will be in Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
