Bruce Ashland, 83, Coon Rapids, MN. He died November 3, 2004, in his home. Funeral services were held November 8 in Faith Lutheran Church in Hannaford, ND. Interment was at Faith Cemetery, Hannaford.
He was born July 28, 11921, near Hannaford, ND, the son of Oscar and Margaret (Lenning) Ashland. He grew up and attended school there and graduated from Hannaford High School. He entered the US Navy in 1942 and was a pilot for the PBY's. he married Doris Erickson September 17, 1944. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned to the Hannaford area. Later, the couple moved to Minneapolis where he worked construction. He retired in 1983 and the couple continued to live in Minneapolis. Doris died Marth 14, 1990. Bruce continued to make his home in Coon Rapids, MN.
He enjoyed playing cribbage, watching football and baseball games and fishing.
Bruce is survived by three sons, Neil Ashland, Motley, MN, Owen (Linda) Ashland, Bloomington, MN, and LaRoy Ashland, Coon Rapids, MN; seven granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Palm, Anaconda, MT; and one brother, Kermit Ashland, Hannaford, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; two daughters, Lana Jean and Dixie Lee; and one son, Mark.
