Mrs. Hale was born in Union City, Tenn., the daughter of Francis and Susie Acox. In 1889 she was married to F.M. Carpenter and two daughters were born to them, Mrs. Viola Mead and Mrs. Lillie Lewis, who died in 1918. Her husband passed away in 1896.
In 1901, in Caruthersville, she was married to Edward Hale, who died in September 1947. Five children were born to them, all surviving.
She leaves three sons Floyd Hale of Portagville, Edwin Hale of this city and Nathan Hale of Kalamazoo, Mich., three daughters, Mrs. Mead of Caruthersville and Mrs. Nellie Morgan and Mrs. Edna Briggance, both of Kalamazoo; a brother, Marion Acox of Seagraves, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Mellie Folk of Harrisburg, Ark. and Mrs. Jennie McGuffin of Griffithville, Ark.; fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
