Rollie C. Nicholes(as spelled throughout the obituary)
Pomona-Rollie C. Nicholes, 81, Pomona, died Monday, Aug. 6, at an Ottawa nursing home where he had been since October 1983.
Mr. Nicholes was a farmer until he moved to Colorado in 1949. He worked for National Sugar Co., Sugar City, Colo., and later worked on road Maintenance for Crowley County, Colo. He returned to Pomona in 1977.
He was born Sept 9, 1902, at Mareno, Oklahoma Territory, the son of Frank and Pearl Beckelheimer Nicholes. He moved to Pomona at an early age, attended Pomona schools and was graduated from Pomona High School.
Mr. Nicoles attended the United Methodist Church in Pomona.
He was married to Vera L. Parks March 2, 1933, at Lyndon. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Donald G. Nicholes, Indianapolis, Ind., and Jerry L. Nicholes, Sugar City, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Abel, Pomona; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Mr. Nicholes will lie in state from noon today until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Pomona.
