Richard H. Abplanalp, one of the popular young men of Palatka, died at his home here at 2 p.m., last Friday, the 16th inst.
His serious illness was chronicled in last week;s paper, but before the paper was well on its way to readers, his death was announced.
He suffered from a relapse of typhoid fever and peritonitis. His death was announced.
Mr. Abplanalp had grown to manhood in Palatka, and was universally esteemed. He was for many years a clerk with the S. E. Bond Company, and on the closing up of that business this summer he identified himself with John T. Bond.
He was for a long time a member of the Gem City Guards, the volunteer fire department and an officer of the West End Hose Company.
Last spring Mr. Abplanalp married Miss Emma Ebert, and they had an attractive home at the corner of Lemon and Fifth streets.
The funeral was held from St. James Methodist Episcopal Church on Saturday afternoon, the obsequies being conducted by Rev. A. L. Woodward.
The pallbearers were D. W. Ramsaur, Charles Priddy, J. H. Haughton, Robert James, Jesse D. Buky and Con. B. Marvin. (Palatka News Obituary dtd Friday, 23 Sep 1904.)
