BOULDER - Lawrence Orr Aakre, 61, a Marine Corps veteran and former chief of police in Conrad, died of natural causes Dec. 1 en route to a Helena hospital.
A memorial service will be held in the spring. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Pondera Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma "Jean" Aakre, of Boulder; a daughter, Bobbi Jo Hajek, of Boulder; a son, David Daniel Aakre, of Culbertson; a sister, Kathy Ruddy, of Killeen, Texas; brothers, Sandy Aakre, of Vermillion, S.D., Jerry Aakre, of Great Falls, and Kerry Aakre, of Glasgow; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Nelson W. Aakre, in 1978.
