Rosa Marina Abbat
Age 79, of Raleigh, NC, died Monday, December 13, 2010 at her home in Raleigh.
Marina was born September 5, 1931 in El Salvador to Enrique Rafael Lard‚ and Marina Bellegarrigue de Lard‚. She studied at the University of Paris and was a graduate of the University of Buffalo.
Since moving to Raleigh in 1985, Marina established herself as a Real Estate Broker, working most recently with Coldwell Banker Advantage. Marina's fluency in French, Spanish, and English enabled her help a wide variety of people to find homes in the Raleigh area. When at home, Marina took great pleasure in her garden, in which she established many inviting spaces for butterflies, bird, and people. Marina's experience as a ballet student during high school in New York City was evident in the grace and precision with which she did everything in life.
Marina was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Jean-Pierre Fernand No‰l Abbat and by her brother, Roger Lard‚.
She is survived by her brother, Enrique Roberto Lard‚ of San Juan, Puerto Rico; sister, Odette Lard‚ of Berkeley CA; son, Pierre Henri Michel Abbat of Charlotte NC; her daughter, Kathrine Abbat Threefoot, son-in-law Steven Alcus Threefoot and grandchildren Alan Henry Threefoot and Barbara Marina Threefoot of Arden, DE.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, December 20, at BROWN-WYNNE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Burial will follow the service at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Weston A. Price Foundation.
