ABBOTT, THELMA EMALINE — Thelma Emaline Fisher Abbott, wife of Floyd H. Abbott, departed this life Tuesday, February 16, 1954, at York General hospital at York, Neb., at the age of 55 years 4 months and 23 days.
Mrs. Abbott had been in poor health since December. It was not thought her condition was serious until the last few days. She suffered a severe stroke Tuesday morning, and passed away at 7:30 that evening.
She joined the Methodist church in Geneva as an infant' and later after going to Fairmont to live, became affiliated with the Federated church there. At the time of her death she was a member of that church and the Esther Circle of the Methodist church in Geneva. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; Silver Link Rebekah Lodge No. 14 of Geneva and the past Noble Grand Club of that lodge.
Mrs. Abbott was born near Geneva, September 24, 1898, and attended Geneva high school. September 10, 1919, she was married to Floyd h. Abbott at Aurora, Neb. Soon thereafter, they established their home at Fairmont, where Mr. Abbott was appointed rural mail carrier. They continued to reside at Fairmont until September 10, 1948, when they moved to Geneva, where they were residing when Mrs. Abbott died.
Mrs. Abbott had a cheerful disposition; was a kind and considerate person; always ready and willing to assist others; a devoted wife and mother. She gave much time and thought to her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Her father, Henry E. Fisher, and mother, Julia A. Heath Fisher; two brothers, Donald h. Fisher, and James H. Fisher, predeceased her.
Surviving are her husband, Floyd H. Abbott of Geneva, a daughter, Elizabeth Ann, (Mrs. Robert Schelkopf) of Shickley, five nieces, Maxine Fisher Dearking, Marjorie Fisher West, Norma Lee Fisher Christiancy, Deloris June Fisher Atwood and Joan Elaine fisher; an uncle, Ira heath, an aunt, Geneva Heath Wiedman, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Geneva Friday, February 19, at 2 o'clock. Dr. F. E. Pfoutz gave the tribute, using "In the Father's House," John 14:2, as the Bible verse. Mrs. H.A. Rosenau sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Beyond the Sunset." Gayle Walton provided organ music. The pallbearers were Edward McCluskey, Earl Manning, Isaac Schelkopf and Russell Schelkopf.
Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
