Jack G. Marlow, 79, passed away Wednesday at Community Hospital, Anderson, of a brief illness.
Mr. Marlow was born in Alexandria, the son of Willis Marlow and Beulah (Lewis) Marlow. He had resided in the Alexandria-Anderson area all of his lifetime.
Jack was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1949. He retired from the tool room of Delco-Remy, formerly of Anderson in 1996 after 46 years.
He served with the Indiana National Guard Army Reserve for 24 years and was discharged in 1978 as a Sergeant First Class. Jack also drove a school bus for Leach School for 23 years.
He was a member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church where he enjoyed the Joy Sunday School Class and the S.A.L.T. Society groups of the church. He was also a member of Alexandria Masonic Lodge #235 for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Alexandria Senior Guild Euchre Club and enjoyed hunting and bowling. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Pacers and the Purdue athletics. Jack's greatest pleasure in life was the care and nurturing of his family.
He is survived by two sons, Steve (Elaine) Marlow, Alexandria, and Randy Marlow, Berkeley, California; two daughters, Mindy (Jerry) DeVaney and Missy (Steve) Swanson, all of Alexandria; his grandchildren, Tracey (Mac) Chapman, Heather (Joe) Wolf, Kristina (Brian) Brueggeman, Jenny (Jeff) Cohee, Eric Swanson, and Carrie (Donald) Gaines; his seven great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Lucille (Phil) McKnight, Elwood; his aunt, Margaret Gosnell, Alexandria; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Margaret (Broyles) Marlow in 2005; and a granddaughter, Sherry Marlow.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Michael Deutsch of the Alexandria First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood.
Friends may call at the Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria on Monday from 4-8 p.m. or after 10 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alexandria Frist Baptist Church or the American Lung Association through the funeral home.
