Wilbur (Bill) Aaron, Jr., age 75, a resident of Wetumpka, AL; died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Montgomery after an extended illness. He was born in Montgomery, January 11, 1935 and a graduate of Wetumpka High School. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Pine View Memorial Gardens with a military service. A eulogy will be given by his nephew Wren Aaron. He is survived by his brother, William Warren Aaron; sisters, Mary Aaron Williams, Vivian Aaron Martin; 17 nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; also many Navy retirees, Hank Williams fans, school mates, and lifelong buddy, James M. (Billy) Hicks of Wetumpka. He is preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Fester and Jewell Burdette Aaron; sisters Francis Aaron Rountree, Ruby Aaron Andress, and Marie Aaron Panhorst. Bill was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer. He is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was on the All Navy Volleyball, Softball and Basketball teams. He was a Charter Lifetime Member of the Hank Williams Museum. In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be made to the Hank Williams Museum in Montgomery, Alabama 36104.
