Samuel Ross Sluder was born November 22,1905 the seventh of eleven children, to Samuel Charles and Alice Bell
( Williams )Sluder in Floydada, Texas.
He passed away at Phoenix, Arizona, Thursday January 21,1982.
Ross married Dorothy Marie Freeman on May 23,1936. To this union five children were born.
Ross is survived by his wife Dorothy of forty five years, two sons Carl Dean and Donald Eugene, two daughters Doris Mae
Hamilton and Peggy Ann Wagner.
He is survived by two brothers, Ernest and Tom, two sisters
Winnie Flynt and Nettie Mae Jester, eight grandchildren,
also numerous nephews, nieces and many friends.
Ross was proceeded in death by one son Charles Edward and
four brothers and two sisters.
Ross was raised in Texas on a farm. He left Texas at the age of twenty moving to Kansas where he worked for the next ten
years, then he made his way to Eastern Colorado where he met
and married Dorothy Marie Freeman. Immediately after their
marriage they moved to the Montelores area to make their home.
To support his famiy Ross worked at many different occupations of which included working as a carpenter, farmer and a uranium miner to name a few. He also enjoyed and also
was gifted as a trader.
Ross' favorite past time was fishing with his family and friends.
Ross retired in 1973, the last few years spending his winters in Phoenix, Arizona.
He was a good husband and Father always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
