Obituary: DEATH OF DAN ENGEMAN, WATHENA. Daniel Engeman was born in Bern, Switzerland, April 20, 1842, and died at about 5 o'clock in the morning of June 23, 1925, at his home north of Wathena, aged 83 years, two months and two days. Death was due to apoplexy.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2: 30 o'clock from the Smith Creek church, the Rev. C. Iffert officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery of the same church. Scroggins Mortuary in charge.
Besides his wife, Mr. Engeman leaves three sons and two daughters to mourn his loss, Edward, Henry and John, and Mrs. William Redmond, all of Wathena, and Mrs Beebe of Kansas City.(Src: The Wathena Times, June 25, 1925.)

Daniel Engemann's parents were Daniel Engimann and Anna Berger. He married Anna Verena Stucki on August 17, 1860 in Bumpliz, Switzerland. Their children were; Rosette, Anna, Fredrick, Elizabeth, Emma, John, Daniel, Edward, Henry, and Charles.
There is no stone marking his grave, but records show he is buried at Smith Creek.

An inquiry was made to the Smith Creek Church Cemetery just west of Wathena Kansas.
Boyd Bonebrake replied that Daniel and Anna V Engiman are buried there but there are no headstones.
He sent a very rough map that shows where the burials are in the cemetery.
Engiman family members buried there include:
Daniel Engiman, Mrs Daniel [Anna V], John Engeman, Charley Engman, Dan Engeman, Rose Behler are all listed in section 4.
Henry Engiman, Simon Behler, Elizabeth Engman are listed in section 3.
Sections 3 & 4 are on the first row on the far east side of the cemtery.
