Delano Paul Abbott, age 76, of Salem died Friday, March 18, 2011 at his home.Born August 23, 1934 in Washington County, he was the son of Ernest and Florence Bierly Abbott.

He was a retired employee of International Harvester, a retired contractor and school bus driver for Salem Schools. He was a member of Canton Christian Church and a former member of National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose Abbott, two brothers, five sisters and his parents.

He is survived by three sons, Mike Abbott of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Mark Abbott and Matt Abbott, both of Salem; a daughter, April Sosh of Salem; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
