Obituary, Margaretha Ackerman
Margaretha Ackerman, nee Kitzmann, was born in Rohrbach, South Russia on October 14, 1873. She came to this country in 1894 and resided on a farm near Sutton with her parents. She was married to Peter Ackerman on April 1, 1897, at Sutton. To this union were born nine children. Her husband and three daughters, Rose, Frieda, and Louise, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ackerman passed away after a short illness on November 6, 1963 at the Sunset Rest Home at Sutton. She attained the age of 90 years and 23 days.
She leaves to mourn the following children: Theodore, Herman and Edward of Sutton; Henry of Lodi, California; Mrs. Ruben Sell of Sutton and Mrs. Edmund Ulmer of Grafton.
There are also 19 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren; and three brothers; George, Henry, and Jacob Kitzmann, all of Loveland, Colorado. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Hope Reformed Church of Sutton, the Rev. Peter Grossmann officiating. Mrs. Victor Griess was at the organ and Mrs. Erna M. Griess.
Kenneth Kauk and Rev. and Mrs. Peter Grossmann sang "Rock of Ages," and Rev. Grossmann and Mr. Kauk sang "Wo Findet Die Seele Die Heimath Die Ruh." Pallbearers were Lawrence Ulmer, Norman Ackerman, Darwin Ackerman, LaVern Sell, Jerald Ackerman, and Melvin Ackerman. Arrangements were by the Kohler Mortuary and interment was in the Sutton Cemetery.
